Deebo Samuel, a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, had a left shoulder injury that caused him to miss the most of the NFC divisional round playoff game against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night. The 49ers are unsure of how long they will be without their versatile star player.

The Niners are hopeful that Samuel did not sustain the same injury, which was a hairline fracture in the shoulder, as he did in a defeat to the Browns in Week 6. Samuel is scheduled to undergo more tests on the shoulder on Sunday.

Several people of the organization were informed by Samuel that he was “OK,” according to sources who spoke with Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“I don’t know yet,” Kyle Shanahan, the coach, responded when he was questioned about Samuel’s injury. “What I mean is that he attempted to return, but he was unable to do so. I am aware that he did something comparable when he played Cleveland.

After defeating the Packers by a score of 24-21, the Niners have advanced to the National Football Conference Championship Game, which will take place at Levi’s Stadium on January 28. In response to Schefter’s inquiry as to whether or not he believed Samuel had a chance to play, one source responded, “Yes, I do.”

After completing a grab over the middle from 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy with 5 minutes and 35 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Samuel was engaged in a struggle for additional yards as a number of Packers defenders descended on him.

Samuel’s forward movement was halted, but he continued to remain on the field after the play in order to receive medical attention during his recovery. In the beginning, Samuel was examined for a concussion; nevertheless, he was quickly given the all-clear to return to work.

In spite of this, Samuel went to the locker room of San Francisco on many occasions in order to undergo more tests on his shoulder.

This did not persist for very long. It was at the two-minute warning that he went back to the locker room of the Niners, and when he came back out for the second half, he was dressed in street clothes.

After a few moments, it was determined that Samuel would not be coming back. This is Samuel’s second shoulder injury of the season, as Shanahan pointed out. Samuel has been dealing with shoulder injuries.
