Eden Hazard – Eden Michael Walter Hazard is a retired professional footballer from Belgium. He played the position of winger or attacking midfielder during his career. Hazard was born on January 7, 1991.

At the age of 16, Hazard began his senior career with the club Lille, who competed in Ligue 1 at the time. He quickly established himself as an important member of the Lille squad, which was coached by Rudi Garcia. In his first full season, he won the award for Young Player of the Year in Ligue 1; the following season, he became the first player to win the accolade twice.

He was also the first player to win the award outside of France. Because of his outstanding play throughout the 2010–2011 season, he was recognized as the Ligue 1 Player of the Year. At the time of his victory, he was the youngest player to ever receive this honor. He won the league and the cup in the same season.

Hazard was born on the 7th of January 1991 in La Louvière, but he spent most of his childhood in Braine-le-Comte. Both his mother Carine and his father Thierry played football professionally.

Eden Hazard Career

  • Due to the fact that the club’s youth academy in Luchin was not yet operational when Hazard joined Lille in 2005, he was required to develop his skills at the club’s local sports school for a period of two years.
  • On the 28th of May in 2007, he signed his first professional contract, which was with Lille and was for a period of three years.
  • Hazard was a member of multiple Belgian national youth teams throughout his time in Belgium, including the under-17 and under-19 teams. He was a consistent member of the under-17 squad, making 17 appearances and contributing two goals to the team’s scoring total.
  • In 2007, he participated in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship that was held in Belgium. Prior to that, he was a member of the team that competed in the Toto Cup, which is an annual international youth competition conducted in Austria.                                                                         
  • On October 7, 2008, Hazard scored his first goal for the under-19 team in a game against Estonia, which the team won 5–0. Three days after that, he scored two goals in a match against Croatia that ended in a 2–2 draw.
  • During the elite qualification phase, Hazard scored three goals, which put him in first place on the team in that category. In the first game of the tournament, which was played against the Republic of Ireland, he scored the game’s only goal.
  • Hazard was given his first call-up to the senior team of Belgium on November 18, 2008, for the team’s match against Luxembourg. The manager of the Belgium senior team at the time, René Vandereycken, made the decision.
  • Before making his debut with the Belgium national team, Hazard was courted by officials from the French Football Federation. These authorities wanted the player to play for the France national team because he was now eligible to play for France because he had become a citizen of France.
  • During Belgium’s victorious qualification campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Eden Hazard made a total of nine appearances and scored twice.
  • On May 13, 2014, Hazard was announced as a member of Belgium’s team that will compete in the 2014 World Cup. He provided an assist for the game-winning goal that Dries Mertens scored in the team’s opening game of the competition, a 2–1 victory over Algeria at Belo Horizonte.
  • In preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Hazard was given the role of captain for Belgium. In the first match of the series against Panama, he provided an assist on Lukaku’s goal, which was the third goal of the game and helped Belgium win 3–0.
  • After that, he scored twice (including one from the penalty spot) in their subsequent victory over Tunisia in the group stage.Hazard was chosen to participate in Belgium’s 2022 World Cup qualification campaign.
  • He contributed an assist in the team’s 5–2 victory over Estonia and scored once in the team’s 3–0 victory over the Czech Republic. In retrospect, Roberto Martinez, the manager of Belgium, had nothing but praise for him.
  • Hazard made the announcement that he was retiring from the national team on December 7, 2022, at the age of 31. This came after Belgium was eliminated in the group stage at the 2022 World Cup.
