Over the course of their trip to the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, a French tourist discovered a diamond that weighed 7.46 carats.

According to a press release issued by Arkansas State Parks, the diamond was discovered earlier this month by Julien Navas, who is from Paris. The diamond was discovered on the surface of the park’s search area, which is 37.5 acres.

According to the press release, the park had been subjected to more than an inch of precipitation in the days leading up to Navas’ visit, which resulted in the day being overcast and muddy.

Following the purchase of his ticket and the rental of a diamond-hunting kit from the park, Navas immediately began his operations.

It was around nine o’clock when I arrived in the park, and I immediately began digging,” Navas stated in the press statement. “That is back-breaking work so by the afternoon I was mainly looking on top of the ground for anything that stood out.”

Navas took his finds to the Diamond Discovery Center in the park, where he was informed that he had found a brown diamond. This occurred after Navas had spent several hours searching for that particular diamond.

According to Arkansas State Parks, the diamond that belongs to Navas is roughly the size of a candy gumdrop and has a rounded shape similar to that of a marble.

“I am just overjoyed! “The only thing that is going through my mind is telling my fiancee what I discovered,” Navas added. Following the name of his fiancee, he made the decision to give his diamond the name Carine Diamond.

According to Navas, he has expressed his desire to have the stone cut into two diamonds, one for his daughter and one for his fiancee at the same time. It was stated by him that he intends to take his daughter back to the park when she is of an older age.

Fifth diamond recovered this year in park

According to the press release, the Carine Diamond is the sixth diamond that has been registered at Crater of Diamonds State Park in the year 2024.

According to Arkansas State Parks, the 9.07-carat Kinard Friendship Diamond is the largest diamond that has been registered at the park since the year 2020. This information was provided by Kevin Kinard.

Since the Crater of Diamonds was designated as a state park in 1972, it is also the eighth-largest diamond that has been entered into the registry.

Since the year 1972, the state park has been responsible for the discovery of more than 75,000 diamonds.
