Giancarlo Stanton Career

During the 2007 Major League Baseball draft, the Florida Marlins selected Stanton in the second round, giving them the 76th overall pick. Stanton chose to sign a professional contract with the Marlins and collect a signing bonus of $475,000 rather than enroll in college.

Stanton started his professional career with the Gulf Coast League Marlins, which played in the Rookie level of the Gulf Coast League. However, he quickly advanced to the Jamestown Jammers, which played in the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League. After just appearing in nine games for the Jammers and collecting two hits in thirty at-bats, he was moved up to the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A South Atlantic League.

During his time with the Jammers, he batted.067 and went two-for-30. Stanton recorded a batting average of.293 along with 39 home runs, 97 RBIs, and an OPS of.993 while playing for Greensboro. The Marlins extended an invitation to Stanton to participate in spring training in 2009. As a result of his outstanding play in the minor leagues during the 2008 season, he was recognized with a number of postseason accolades and was ranked number 16 on Baseball America’s list of the top 100 prospects.

Stanton started the 2009 season in the Class A-Advanced Florida State League with the Jupiter Hammerheads. There, he had a batting average of.294 along with 12 home runs and 39 runs batted in. The Jacksonville Suns, who play in the Class AA Southern League, chose to promote him as a result of his strong performance. He received an invitation to participate in the All-Star Futures Game.

He was one of the best MLB prospects and was invited to play in the Arizona Fall League during the offseason. Before he was sidelined with an injury, he was batting.478 and leading the league in batting average. Baseball America ranked him as the best prospect in the Marlins organization, and he was ranked third on Baseball America’s John Manuel’s list of the top 20 prospects in the minor leagues.

Stanton played for the Suns in all 52 of their games in 2010 and had a batting average of.311, along with 21 home runs, 52 RBIs, and an OPS of.167. The number of times he struck out was only nine more than the number of times he walked (44). He looks like a 15-year-old playing on an 8-year-old’s Little League team, Mississippi Braves manager Phil Wellman told The Florida Times Union after a series against the Mississippi Braves in early May.

“He looks like a 15-year-old playing on an 8-year-old’s Little League team.” On May 6, 2010, when playing against the Montgomery Biscuits, Stanton hit a home shot that went an estimated 500 to 550 feet (150 to 170 meters) in distance, and it cleared the scoreboard in center field.

Giancarlo Stanton Family, Relationship and Afair

The majority of Stanton’s ancestry comes from Ireland, while he also has African-American and Puerto Rican roots. His Puerto Rican great-great-grandmother was his maternal ancestor’s mother. A brother named Egidio “E.G.” Carlos Moacir Garay and a sister named Kyrice Valivia Stanton are both a part of his family. He grew up in the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles and was a huge admirer of the Los Angeles Dodgers from a young age.

He was called Giancarlo when he was a child, but he changed his name to Mike when he was in the sixth grade because he was sick of being teased about his real name and having others mispronounce it. Throughout his time playing baseball in high school and the minor leagues, as well as his first two seasons in the major leagues, he was known by the name “Mike Stanton.”
