Messi, Inter Miami draw without scoring in El Salvador to start their world tour

Lionel Messi started the preseason with Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer, which played to a scoreless draw with the El Salvador national team in an exhibition match on Friday night. This came four days after Messi was crowned the best men’s player by FIFA.

The Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who will be the new colleague of the Argentina great for the upcoming Major League Soccer season, was also there throughout the first half of the match.

After spending six seasons together with Barcelona, Suarez and Messi were able to get back together during their time in Miami.

Fans crowded into the Cuscatlán stadium several hours before the game was scheduled to begin. Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, took advantage of the opportunity to meet Lionel Messi and hosted the team at the Presidential House prior to the game.

During the 39th minute, Messi had a number of scoring opportunities and set up Jordi Alba for a scoring opportunity; however, goalkeeper Mario González diverted the ball. Messi’s chances of scoring were limited.

Messi, Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets were all held out of action by Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino during the second half of the match.

Despite the fact that the club continued to maintain possession of the ball, El Salvador had the best opportunity to score when Steven Vázquez’s shot hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute.

Since his arrival in Miami in July of last year, Messi, who is now 36 years old, has scored ten goals in seven games. By guiding the team to victory in the Leagues Cup final on August 19, he was able to bring the club its very first trophy.

The following Monday, Inter Miami will play FC Dallas in the Cotton Bowl. After that, they will go to Saudi Arabia to play Al Hilal on January 29 and Al-Nassr, which is a team that Cristiano Ronaldo plays for, on February 2.
