Jimmy Butler Career

  • In the 2011 National Basketball Association draft, the Chicago Bulls picked Butler with the thirty-first overall pick. He only appeared in 42 games during the lockout-shortened 2011–12 season, which was his debut year, and he had few opportunity to contribute.
  • The year after that, he participated in all 82 of the Bulls’ games for that season. After getting only a few minutes of playing time to open the 2012–13 season, he saw a big increase in his playing time during the second half of the season and started every one of the team’s 12 playoff games.
  • In a game against the Denver Nuggets on November 25, 2014, Butler scored a career-high 32 points despite the team’s loss. On December 3, 2014, he was honored with the title of Player of the Month for the Eastern Conference for games that were played in the months of October and November.
  • On April 20, Butler scored 31 points in the Bulls’ 91–82 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks to set a new playoff career best for the second game in a row. This victory gave the Bulls a 2-0 lead in their first-round series against the Bucks.
  • In a game against the Charlotte Hornets on January 2, 2017, Butler led all scorers with 52 points in a 118–111 victory. In the first half of the game, he scored 20 points, and in the final four minutes of the game, he scored 17.
  • He came within one point of matching his career high, which he achieved on January 14, 2016.Butler was sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 22, 2017, along with the rights to Justin Patton (the 16th selection in the 2017 NBA draft), in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the rights to Lauri Markkanen (the seventh pick in the 2017 NBA draft).
  • This deal took place in return for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the rights to Lauri Markkanen. The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat agreed to a sign-and-trade on July 6, 2019, which resulted in Butler joining the Heat. The deal involved four different teams.
  • After recording an average of 27.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 8.5 assists over the course of the week ending December 9, Butler was honored as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
  • When the Miami Heat defeated the Houston Rockets 101–94 on February 11, 2021, Butler recorded his 10th career triple-double by scoring 27 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists in the game.
  • Butler led the Milwaukee Bucks to a victory against the Denver Nuggets by a score of 111–108 thanks to his 21 points and nine assists in Game 2 of the 2023 NBA Finals.
