Jordan Nwora – Biography

Jordan Ifeanyi Nwora is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on September 9, 1998. When he was in college, he was a member of the Louisville Cardinals basketball team.

He is a member of the Nigeria men’s national basketball team, which competes on an international level. Nwora was moved to the Indiana Pacers in 2023 after winning a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. The deal took place five years later.

Jordan Nwora – Family, Relationship and Afair

Nwora is the first child with his mother, Amy Nwora, and his father, Alexander Nwora, who is the head coach of both the Nigerian National Basketball Team and Erie Community College.

There is a basketball coach named Richard Jacob who is his godfather. In 1989, he was the one who recruited his father from Nigeria to play for Daemen College.

His sister Ronni Nwora, who played basketball for The Park School of Buffalo, is one of his three siblings who also have an interest in the sport. His other siblings, Caeli and Lex, are also interested in basketball.

Her current squad, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team, is where she is now playing.

Jordan Nwora Career

  • As of 2018, Nwora has been a member of the Louisville Cardinals. As a freshman, he had a scoring average of 5.7 points, a rebounding average of 2.2, and an assist average of 0.4 per game.
  • Within the first six games of his sophomore year, Nwora established himself as the team’s starting quarterback for the full season.
  • In addition to being awarded the Most Improved Player in the ACC, he finished the season with an average of 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, which earned him the position of second Most Improved Player in the NCAA.         
  • During the preseason, he was recognized as the ACC player of the year. In the game against Boston College that took place on January 29, 2020, Nwora not only scored a career-high 37 points but also added nine rebounds to his total.
  • Following the conclusion of the regular season, Nwora was announced as a member of the First Team All-ACC. He also finished in second place in the voting for player of the year, behind only Tre Jones.
  • After the season, Nwora announced his intention to enter the NBA draft in 2020. For the sake of staying in shape during the COVID-19 pandemic and getting ready for the draft, he attended the XGen Elite basketball academy in West Seneca, which is owned and operated by Darren Fenn.

Professional Career

  • The Milwaukee Bucks used the 45th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft to choose Nwora. This was the team’s first pick overall. The Bucks made the announcement that they had finalized the signing of Nwora on November 24, 2020.
  • In preparation for the beginning of the NBA G League season, he was given a contract with the Salt Lake City Stars, and he made his first appearance on February 10, 2021. Because of an ankle ailment, he was activated from the Stars three days later and brought back into the team.
  • Nwora finished his rookie season on May 16 by scoring a career-high 34 points on 14–23 shooting, along with 14 rebounds and 2 blocks, in a game against the Chicago Bulls that concluded with a disappointing score of 118–112 in favor of the Bulls.                                                                                                                           
  • As a result of his contributions to the Bucks’ victory over the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals, Nwora was able to win an NBA championship during his rookie season.
  • On February 9, 2023, the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns were involved in a four-team deal that resulted in the transfer of Nwora to the Indiana Pacers. The agreement also included the transfer of George Hill and Serge Ibaka.
  • After being taken in the 2020 NBA draft, Nwora followed in the footsteps of Tyrese Haliburton, Aaron Nesmith, and Jalen Smith, as well as Obi Toppin, who were all members of the Pacers.
  • It was on February 13 that he made his debut with the Pacers. In a game against the Utah Jazz, which the Pacers lost 123–117, he recorded 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
  • Nwora won a game against the Orlando Magic on February 25 by scoring 18 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists while shooting 8–12 from the field.
  • Nwora had a game against the Detroit Pistons on March 13 and finished with 20 points, four rebounds, and two steals with his performance.
  • Nwora, Bruce Brown, Kira Lewis Jr., and three first-round draft picks were all included in the deal that took place between the Pacers and the Toronto Raptors on January 17, 2024. Pascal Siakam was the player that was acquired by the Pacers.
