Jordan Whitehead – Jordan Tyler Whitehead is an American football safety who currently plays for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). Whitehead was born on March 18, 1997. He attended the University of Pittsburgh during his NCAA football career.

Whitehead received their secondary education at Monaca, Pennsylvania at the Central Valley High School. He also competed in track and field in addition to playing football. He was a starter for Central Valley when he was a freshman and played on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

Jordan Whitehead Career

Whitehead was a true freshman for Pittsburgh in 2015 and participated in all 13 of the team’s games, starting in the last 12 of those contests. On the offensive side of the ball, he carried the ball 12 times for a total of 122 yards, which resulted in two touchdowns. He finished with 108 tackles, one interception, six pass deflections, and one fumble recovery on the defensive side of the ball.

Whitehead was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The Buccaneers selected him with the 117th overall pick. In 2018, Whitehead was the tenth safety to be selected in the draft.

In the first game of the regular season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which they won 48–40 against the New Orleans Saints, he made his debut as a professional player. After Chris Conte suffered a knee injury on October 14, 2018, he was placed on injured reserve, which allowed Whitehead to make his first start of his professional career. In the Buccaneers’ game against the Atlanta Falcons, which they lost 34–29, Whitehead ended with six combined tackles. During the game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12, he recorded a season-high ten solo tackles and broke up two passes while the team was victorious by a score of 27–9.

After playing in 15 games and making 11 starts during his debut season in 2018, he finished with 76 combined tackles (61 solo) and four pass deflections. He played in all 16 games.

During  the NFC Championship game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers, Whitehead caused a fumble that was recovered by a teammate named Devin White. The Falcons went on to win the game by a score of 31–26. Whitehead was a participant in Super Bowl LV, which the Seattle Seahawks won 31–9 over the Kansas City Chiefs.

During the game, he was responsible for two single tackles. On March 17, 2022, Jordan Whitehead signed a contract with the New York Jets that was worth $14.5 million over the course of two years. On October 2, Whitehead would earn his first interception of the season off of a pass that was attempted for the first time in his career by Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Whitehead had three interceptions in Week 1 of the 2023 season against Josh Allen, who was playing quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.
