Marvin Humes – Marvin Richard James Humes is an English musician, disc jockey, television presenter, and radio broadcaster. He was once responsible for hosting the late-night show that aired on the Capital Network from Monday through Thursday. Humes was born on March 18, 1985. Prior to that, between 2013 and 2018, he was the host of The Official Big Top 40 chart program, which was broadcast on commercial radio stations in the UK on Sunday afternoons.

JLS finished as the runner-up boyband to Alexandra Burke in the fifth season of The X Factor, where he was a member of the four-piece boy band JLS. He is most recognized for this role. JLS disbanded in December 2013, following a great run spanning five years, however they got back together in February 2020.

Marvin Humes – Family, Relationship and Afair

James Humes entered the world on March 18th, 1985 in the Greenwich neighborhood of London. He is the middle kid between his two brothers, Leon and Jackson, and his Jamaican father, Colin Hurrell Humes, and his Scottish mother, Sharon Humes. His father is from Jamaica, while his mother is from Scotland.

On July 27, 2012, Humes tied the knot with Rochelle Wiseman, a member of the band The Saturdays, at Blenheim Palace.

Marvin Humes Career

  • After making an appearance on The X Factor, JLS ultimately decided to sign with Epic Records. Both of their debut songs, “Beat Again” and “Everybody in Love,” debuted at number one on the songs Chart in the United Kingdom.


  • The band’s debut album, which was published under its own name on November 9, 2009, has subsequently gone on to sell more than one million copies in the UK. At the 2010 Brit Awards, JLS took home both the award for British Breakthrough and the award for British Single (“Beat Again”).


  • In addition, they were recognized as the Best Newcomer and Best Songwriter at the Mobo Awards in the same year that “Beat Again” was named the Best Song of 2009. They were awarded the MOBO for Best UK Act in 2010, as well as the award for Best Album.                                                   


  • They went on to win a total of five MOBO Awards in total, including the award for “Best Video” in 2012 for their performance of “Do You Feel What I Feel?” They were awarded the distinction of the hardest-working band in the United Kingdom for two consecutive years, 2011 and 2012, respectively.


  • On July 23, 2014, Humes made the announcement on several social networking websites that he has founded a new dance group called LuvBug. The group will feature ‘The White N3RD and JKAY as members. They became formally signed to Polydor Records, and on October 5, 2014, they released their debut single, which was titled “Resonance” and featured Talay Riley.


  • It debuted at position number 13 on the charts the week of October 18, 2014. In February of 2015, the follow-up song “Revive (Say Something)” peaked at number 17 on the charts in the United Kingdom.


  • Since March 2013, Humes has been the host of his very own radio show on the Capital network called “FridayNightCapital.” The show airs on Friday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. and marks the beginning of “The Weekend Lives on Capital.”


  • Kat Shoob took over for Rich Clarke as the host of The Vodafone Big Top 40 on January 5, 2014; the show is broadcast on over one hundred commercial music radio stations, including Capital and Heart. The show airs on Sundays from 4pm to 7pm. In 2018, he resigned from the show.


  • On March 11, 2016, Global made the announcement that Humes would be taking over as host of the Capital Late Show, which airs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Cozens had previously held this position.


  • On June 4, 2017, it was announced that Humes would be co-presenting One Love Manchester on stations that are affiliated with Global Radio.


  • On December 15, 2022, on Capital (radio network), Humes presented his final Capital Late Show before leaving the network after 10 years. On January 3, 2023, former Capital Breakfast presenter Sonny Jay took over as host of the show.

Television Career

  • On August 23, 2013, Humes made his debut as a television host when he co-presented ITV’s This Morning alongside his wife Rochelle Humes. This was Humes’ first job in the television presenting industry.


  • In following years, the duo served as regular substitute presenters up to 2015. Holly Willoughby was the host of the program Surprise Surprise on ITV, and Humes was a regular correspondent for the program.


  • In September of 2013, it was announced that Humes will be taking over for Reggie Yates on the third season of The Voice UK on BBC One. The new season began airing on January 11, 2014. In series 3, 4, and 5, he was the host alongside Emma Willis. In 2017, the show was transferred to ITV, however Humes was no longer a co-presenter.


  • Together with his wife, Rochelle Humes, he has been a co-presenter of the BBC’s Children in Need campaign every year since 2016. In one of the episodes of The Keith & Paddy Picture Show, he had a recurring role as Apollo Creed.


  • On the 20th of November 2018, it was revealed that Humes and his wife Rochelle Humes would be hosting a music-themed game show on BBC One together. The Hit List premiered in May 2019 and was immediately picked up for a second season, which will begin airing later that same year. A third season has been ordered, and it is anticipated that it will debut in 2020.


  • On November 19, 2020, Humes served as a guest presenter on the ITV daytime show Loose Women, making him not just the first male presenter in the show’s 21-year existence but also the only male member of the panel. This event made history.
