Mecole Hardman – Carey Mecole Hardman Jr. is an American football wide receiver  who was born on March 12, 1998, and currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). After participating in football at the collegiate level for the University of Georgia, the Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Additionally, he had a brief stint playing for the New York Jets.

Mecole Hardman Professional Career

  • In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Hardman in the second round with the 56th overall choice. This was the Chiefs’ first pick in the position. During that year, he was the fifth wide receiver to be selected.
  • Hardman scored his first career touchdown in the National Football League on the road against the Oakland Raiders in Week 2 of the NFL season. He hauled in four catches for 61 yards and scored the touchdown.
  • During the game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3, he hauled in two catches for 97 yards, including a receiving score that covered 83 yards. The Chiefs won their match against the Ravens by a score of 33–28.                                                                                                                                     
  • Hardman scored a touchdown on his lone reception of the game for 63 yards when the Tennessee Titans defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 35–32 on the road in Week 10 of the NFL season.
  • Hardman hauled in four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown during the third week of the season’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. The touchdown came on a reception of 49 yards. The Chiefs won with a score of 34–20.
  • Hardman hauled in seven catches for 96 yards and a score while the New York Jets were defeated by the team 35–9 in Week 8 action. The touchdown came on a reception of 30 yards. After a positive test for COVID-19 on November 11, 2020, Hardman was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He was later activated on November 21.
  • Hardman participated in all 17 games during the 2021 season, finishing with 59 receptions, 693 yards, and two touchdowns while also taking on the majority of the responsibilities associated with punt return.
  • During the postseason, Hardman scored a touchdown in the Divisional Round by running the ball in, and he scored a touchdown in the AFC Championship by receiving the ball.
  • On January 4, 2023, Hardman was brought back into the active roster off the injured reserve. Hardman did make his way back into the field for the AFC Championship, however he suffered an abdominal injury and was subsequently inactive for Super Bowl LVII.
  • Hardman was able to win his second Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 38–35.
  • Hardman and a selection in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft were sent back to the Kansas City Chiefs in a trade that took place on October 18, 2023. In return, the Kansas City Chiefs received a selection in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
