Milan Lucic Career

  • In the 2004–2005 season of the British Columbia Hockey League, Lucic began his junior career playing for the Coquitlam Express. During the same season, he made his debut as a major junior player with the Vancouver Giants, the team that represented his city in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
  • He participated in one game during the regular season and two games during the playoffs. In the 2005–06 season, his first full year with the Giants, he recorded 19 points in 62 contests. He added seven more points to his total during the playoffs, helping the Giants to win the WHL championship and earn a berth in the 2006 Memorial Cup.
  • On August 2, 2007, during the offseason, Lucic signed a deal with the Bruins that was considered an entry-level offer. He had been selected as the next team captain for the Giants, but instead he made the opening roster for the Bruins in 2007–08 straight out of training camp.
  • On October 5, 2007, he participated in his first National Hockey League game, which was a 4–1 loss to the Dallas Stars. During the game, he engaged in a fight with an opposing forward named Brad Winchester.
  • One week later, on October 12, he scored the game-winning goal in an 8–6 victory over the Los Angeles Kings with his first goal, which was scored against Jonathan Bernier.
  • On October 25, 2008, Lucic recorded his first career hat trick in the National Hockey League and added an assist in his team’s 5–4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. This victory came early in the 2008–09 NHL season.
  • Later that week, Lucic made a much-publicized return to his hometown in a game against the Vancouver Canucks, which featured a picture of him as a baby on the back page of Vancouver’s The Province newspaper. This game was Lucic’s first game back in his hometown since he was traded to the Canucks.
  • In August of 2011, Lucic was given the opportunity to spend his regular day in charge of the Stanley Cup. He chose to do so in Vancouver. Despite the fact that it is customary for players to hold public celebrations in their hometowns with the Stanley Cup trophy, Lucic decided to keep the day private and explained his decision by saying, “I grew up a Canucks fan.”
  • I am aware of the situation. Fans of the Canucks had rioted in Downtown Vancouver for several hours after their team was eliminated from the Stanley Cup Finals. On a more intimate level, posters of Lucic that were displayed at a neighborhood cultural community center were vandalized.
  • The transaction that sent Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings took place on June 26, 2015, and it involved the goaltender Martin Jones, the defenseman Colin Miller, and a first-round choice in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
  • On April 13, 2021, Lucic became the first player in the history of the National Hockey League to participate in 1000 games. As a result of this action, he became the 352nd player to attain the milestone of 1000 games played.
  • Lucic officially rejoined the Boston Bruins on July 1, 2023, when he signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the club. A “domestic incident” led to Lucic’s arrest in the wee hours of the 18th of November, 2023, in Boston.
