It was a difficult choice to make, but when you consider the weather forecast for the Los Angeles area, which extends all the way into the middle of the following week, you understand that the sanctioning body made the right option.

There are sixteen weather-related alerts that have been issued by the National Weather Service for the Los Angeles area as a result of an epic rain storm that is expected to launch its assault on the region on Sunday.

This weekend marks the beginning of the 2024 NASCAR season with the exhibition event. However, the first points-paying races of the season are set to take place at Daytona International Speedway, which is located on the opposite side of the country.

Despite the fact that the Daytona 500 is not scheduled to be raced by the NASCAR Cup Series until Sunday, February 18, the teams must be prepared to compete on the day of qualifying for the Daytona 500, which is on Wednesday, February 14.

It was simply not possible for NASCAR to take a chance with a less-than-favorable weather prediction, which was continuing into Wednesday or longer, because the timeframe was becoming increasingly tight.
