Nick Bosa Career

After graduating from Ohio State, the vast majority of draft analysts and scouts had Bosa pegged as the top choice overall in the draft. As one of the most promising prospects for the next draft, Bosa was invited to participate at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He was successful in all of the mandatory combine drills as well as the positional drills, with the exception of the 10 yard and 20 yard split. During his time at the combine, Bosa spoke with representatives from eight different NFL teams and participated in interviews with four of them: the New York Jets, the New York Giants, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

One week before the selection, some people condemned Bosa for his political opinions and provocative tweets, such as calling Colin Kaepernick a “clown,” expressing support for U.S. president Donald Trump, and “liking” a post on Instagram that included racial and homophobic insults as hashtags.

Bosa was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the sixth round.Bosa signed a contract with the 49ers on July 25, 2019, that was worth $33.5 million over four years, included a signing bonus of $22.5 million, and had an option for a fifth year.

Bosa played his first game in the National Football League during Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During the game, he had three tackles and one sack of quarterback Jameis Winston, leading his team to a road victory of 31–17. As a result of Bosa’s two sacks of Baker Mayfield in the Los Angeles Chargers’ 31–3 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 5, which included one that forced Mayfield to fumble the ball, he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

In the following game, which was a 51–13 victory over the Carolina Panthers, Bosa recorded his first interception of his career and had three sacks on quarterback Kyle Allen. Due to their combined efforts, both he and his brother Joey were recognized as the Defensive Players of the Week for their respective conferences.

He received the NFC award, while Joey received the AFC award. The next day, Bosa found out that he had been awarded the title of NFC Defensive Player of the Month for his performance in the month of October.
