Olly Murs Career

  • The song “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder was the song that Murs performed at her audition for the sixth season of The X Factor in 2009. It was “the easiest yes I’ve ever given,” commented Judge Simon Cowell on the situation.
  • “Your Song” by Elton John was the song that Murs performed at boot camp. On the first live show, he sang “She’s the One,” and on the second live show, he delivered “A Fool in Love,” a performance that Simon Cowell referred to as being “in a different league.”
  • He performed “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” for the third week of the competition. In his comments, Louis Walsh referred to him as the “dark horse of the competition,” and Simon Cowell stated that he was “coming into his own each week.”
  • “The Climb” was the winner’s song, and he performed it during his final performance on the competition. Cole told him, “You absolutely tore it from your soul.” I was shocked to hear that. I have never before heard you sing in such a manner.
  • According to my opinion, it was a stunning rendition of the song…” After losing the championship match to Joe McElderry the next day, he ended in second place overall.
  • Following the final, in which Murs finished in second place to Joe McElderry, rumors began to circulate that he would make his debut album practically immediately after the competition.
  • Immediately following the dissemination of the rumors, Murs made the announcement that he had signed a record deal with Epic Records and Syco Music in February of 2010. Additionally, it was reported that Murs had begun collaborating with John Shanks and Eg White.
  • Following the release of the accompanying music video, Murs announced that the first single from the album will be titled “Please Don’t Let Me Go.” The song was made available for purchase on August 27, 2010, and it was released alongside the music video.
  • The single was produced by Future Cut, and the song was written by Murs himself as well as by other songwriters, including Claude Kelly and Steve Robson.
  • His first album, which was titled Olly Murs and was published in November of 2010, was presented to the public for the first time. It was on October 15, 2010, when the album’s track list was initially made public.
  • The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart by selling more than 108,000 copies in its first week of release, making it the debut album with the highest week-one album sales in the year 2010.
  • Within the month of July 2013, Murs disclosed that he had returned to the studio in order to compose and record new songs for his fourth album, which is scheduled to be released during the summer of 2014.
  • In February of 2014, it was disclosed that he had successfully initiated the production of his fourth studio album. Demi Lovato, Wayne Hector, Claude Kelly, and Steve Robson were among the people he collaborated with.
  • Murs released the single “Die of a Broken Heart” on October 7, 2022, and it made its debut on the UK Official Downloads Singles Chart Top 100 a week later, at position number 19. Murs also revealed that the Marry Me Tour will take place in 2023.
  • Both “Die of a Broken Heart” and “I Hate You When You’re Drunk” were released as singles prior to the release of the parent album, Marry Me, which was published on December 2, 2022 and immediately climbed to the top of the charts at its initial release.
  • During the Coronation Concert for King Charles III, which took place at Windsor Castle on May 7th, 2023, Murs gave a performance.
