It was revealed on Wednesday that the Indiana Pacers have entered into a trade with the Toronto Raptors that will result in the acquisition of Pascal Siakam, an All-Star forward, in exchange for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and three first-round Draft picks.

An announcement was made that the New Orleans Pelicans had sent a second-round pick in 2024 and a player named Kira Lewis Jr. to the Indiana Pacers as part of a separate deal. Following that, the Pacers agreed to trade Lewis to the Raptors.

It has been announced that the Raptors would receive three first-round picks, two of which are for the year 2024 (the Raptors‘ own selection and the lesser of a Utah, Houston, Los Angeles Clippers, or Oklahoma City pick), while the third pick is for the year 2026 (that is from Indiana).

The president of the Pacers, Kevin Pritchard, issued a statement in which he announced, “We are extremely excited to welcome Pascal to Indiana.” Pascal is a player whom our club has always loved and appreciated due to the fact that he has been selected for All-NBA honors twice and has been named an NBA All-Star twice.

His offensive skillset is one of a kind, and we believe that it will compliment our style of play. Additionally, we believe that his versatility on defense will be an invaluable asset to our squad.

Siakam, who has played in the National Basketball Association for all eight of his seasons, is now averaging 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists with the Toronto Raptors.

It has been reported by insiders to ESPN that he is enthusiastic about the transaction and is anticipated to be eager to negotiate a new contract with the organization throughout the summer.

In July, Siakam, who is 29 years old, may become a free agent. The current season brings him close to $38 million in earnings.

“I’m excited that Pascal is getting a first-class opportunity with the Pacers, being paired with Tyrese [Haliburton] and Myles [Turner] and being coached by a great coach in Rick Carlisle,” Siakam’s representative, Todd Ramasar, told the

There are three more times this season that the Pacers will compete against the Raptors, including twice in Toronto. Their next gathering will take place in Toronto on Valentine’s Day.

During his career, Siakam has averaged 17.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He was selected for the All-Star game in both the year 2020 and the year 2023. In 2019, he was selected to the All-NBA team for the second time, and he also won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors.

A veteran forward named James Johnson, who had played in five games since signing with the Pacers in the middle of December, was also released by the team on Wednesday.

Brown, who is 27 years old, will be playing for his fourth different team in the past three seasons. He has previously played for the Nets, the Nuggets, and the Pacers. This year, he is scoring 12.1 points per game, which is a career high for him.

At the age of 25, Nwora has averaged 5.2 points per game.

This season, Lewis had a point average of 2.9 and had played in 118 games for the Pelicans, all of which were played in a reserve capacity. He had been with the team for portions of four seasons. If the Pelicans are able to move Lewis, they will be in a position to lower their luxury tax score below the threshold.
