According to Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales has had the planned stomach surgery that was expected to take place at a private hospital in London.
The operation that took place on Tuesday was successful, and according to the palace, Catherine will continue to be hospitalized for ten to fourteen days.
It was reported by the palace that the princess, who is 42 years old, would like to apologize for delaying prospective engagements.
“Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” according to an announcement.
However, the palace has stated that Catherine’s health does not involve cancer. However, they did not provide any other details regarding her treatment.
Due to the severity of her condition, she will be required to remain in the hospital for a period of two weeks, and it is anticipated that she will require between two and three months to recover.
During the time that the princess is in the hospital, her husband, the Prince of Wales, will also be delaying some of his commitments, and William will not be performing any official duties.
She is anticipated to heal at home in Windsor, where the Waleses and their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, currently reside. Once she is freed from the hospital, she will be able to return home.
The following is an excerpt from the statement that Kensington Palace issued on Wednesday afternoon: “Her Royal Highness Yesterday, before her scheduled abdominal surgery, the Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic for the intended procedure.
“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery.”
The palace also stated that the princess is aware of the interest that would be generated by her surgery and that she hopes the general public “will understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible.”
The Kensington Palace had previously stated that it would only offer updates in the event that there was important new material to disclose.
According to its website, the London Clinic, which is located in the heart of London next to Regent’s Park, is the largest independent private hospital in the United Kingdom.
