A performance by Reba McEntire at Super Bowl LVIII is something that she is more than prepared to give.
In a new interview with Apple Music, the country diva revealed that she has been practicing for the performance in a manner that is extremely approachable. She will be singing the National Anthem in Las Vegas on Sunday, which is the day before the big game.
McEntire, who is 68 years old, stated, “I’ve been singing the National Anthem in the shower [and] when we get in the car,” referring to the fact that she has been singing the song while riding in the car with her boyfriend, the actor Rex Linn, who is a “huge football fan.”
“He will inform you, ‘All right, sing it one more time.'” As part of her preparation process, the Grammy winner stated, “I think I know the words real good right now, so I’m alright.” She also mentioned that it is “helpful” to “know that everybody’s gonna be singing it with me” at Allegiant Stadium on the day of the performance.
As McEntire, who has been performing the National Anthem at sporting events ever since she was a teenager, put it, “If I know they’re singing along, and they’re remembering and having fun too, that’s easier on me, but just to be prepared when you walk out there,” she said.
In a different part of the interview, the singer of “Fancy” expressed how she was “honored beyond words” to perform at the Super Bowl for the very first time, and she also discussed the significance of the occasion for her.
“I get to sing a very special song for all Americans, people all around the world, who have really worked so hard for our freedom and to give us peace,” she said to Nadeska Alexis, the host of Apple Music.
“It’s a song that takes me back to my childhood.” “This is not about me; I am the embodiment of this song, and it is an honor for me to be able to perform it. This one is an excellent one. I have been performing it for the past half a century, and I am quite proud to be able to sing it.
This will be McEntire’s second time ever attending a Super Bowl game, which will take place on Sunday. Mountain America Stadium, which was once known as Sun Devil Stadium, was located in Tempe, Arizona, and she had previously witnessed the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers battle against one other in the year 1996.
The performer who is known for her song “I’m a Survivor” also revealed what she intends to do in Las Vegas after the outcome of the Super Bowl: “Eat. If you want to eat, you go see as many concerts as you possibly can. The meal is just excellent. Is it possible that you may go shopping?
Not only will Reba McEntire perform the national anthem, but Post Malone will also sing “America the Beautiful” and Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” during Super Bowl LVIII, which will include Usher as the headlining performer for the halftime show.
