A week after USA TODAY published a report on an investigation into a sexual harassment complaint from a notable rape survivor,

Michigan State University announced that it will terminate football coach Mel Tucker. The complaint said that Tucker had sexually harassed the survivor.

Athletic director Alan Haller said in a statement released on Monday afternoon that the school has notified Tucker of its intent to terminate his contract for cause.

Haller added in the statement, "I, with the support of administration and board, have provided Mel Tucker with written notice of intent to terminate his contract for cause,"

"As a condition of his current contract, you are obligated to follow this notification procedure.

Tucker has been given seven calendar days to respond to the notice and show reasons to both myself and the interim president as to,

why he should not be terminated for cause. The notification was sent to him by the company.

“This action does not conclude the ongoing Office for Civil Rights case; that rigorous process will continue.”
