During the 2009–10 season, he had a minimum of 150 attempts from beyond the arc and still managed to achieve the fourth greatest 3-point percentage (.375) for a player under the age of 21 in the annals of NBA history.
- During the 2010–11 season, he had 54 different games in which he scored 10 points or more, including a season-high 26 points on March 6, 2011, when the Phoenix Suns were his opponent.
- During the time that James Harden was eligible to become a free agent in 2012, Oklahoma City made many attempts to extend his current contract by four years at a salary of between $52 and $55 million. Later, Harden said that he was given insufficient time to think about the offer and its implications.                                                                     Â
- The head coaches of the NBA teams chose James Harden to participate in the 2014 NBA All-Star Game as a reserve player. This was Harden’s second straight year being selected for the All-Star Game. After that, he was given a spot in the starting lineup for the All-Star Game as a substitute starter.
- Harden became the first Rocket player to score 43 points or more in consecutive games in November of 2015. Prior to that, Malone had two streaks of three games during the 1981–1982 season in which he accomplished this feat.
- On July 9, 2016, James Harden extended his deal with the Rockets by signing a new one that was worth $118.1 million over four years.

- Harden recorded his fourth 50-point game of the season on December 11, 2019, against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 55 points on an efficient 20-of-34 field goal shooting and 10-of-18 from three in the victory. This was Harden’s fourth 50-point game of the season.
- Harden scored 40 points and passed Elgin Baylor as the player with the most 40-point games in NBA history on December 21, 2019, as the Houston Rockets defeated the Phoenix Suns 139-125.
- Harden and Paul Millsap were sent to the Philadelphia 76ers in a trade that took place on February 10, 2022. The Nets received Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round draft picks in return for the two players.
- Harden decided to stay with the 76ers after the 2022–2023 season by picking up his $35.6 million option to stay with the team, but he eventually asked to be traded.
