Josh McDaniels – Joshua Thomas McDaniels is an American Football head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League. He was born on April 22, 1976. He started his career in the National Football League in 2001 with the New England Patriots, where he was the offensive coordinator for a total of 14 seasons that were not consecutive.
During McDaniels’ first term as offensive coordinator, which lasted from 2006 through 2008, New England broke the record for the most points scored in a season and became the first team to win all 16 regular-season games in 2007.

Josh McDaniels Career
- McDaniels started his coaching career in 1999 as a senior graduate assistant at Michigan State University under the direction of Nick Saban. He was able to leverage his dad’s friendship with Saban to land the position. Following his time as an assistant coach at Michigan State, McDaniels relocated to Cleveland and began working as a sales representative for plastics.
- In 2001, the Patriots welcomed McDaniels to their organization as a personnel assistant. Between the years 2002 and 2003, he worked as an assistant coach for the team’s defensive unit, specializing in working with the defensive backs in 2003. In 2004, he was given the role of quarterbacks coach for the team.
- McDaniels was hired to take over as head coach of the Denver Broncos on January 11, 2009, succeeding Mike Shanahan in that role. At a news conference the next day, the Broncos announced McDaniels as their new head coach after reaching an agreement with him on a contract worth $8 million over four years.
- After the conclusion of the 2011 campaign, the Los Angeles Rams parted ways with head coach Steve Spagnuolo. The Rams notified McDaniels that while though he was under contract with the team for the 2012 season, they would not be holding him to his contract and would instead allow him to leave the team.
- McDaniels was hired by the Las Vegas Raiders on the 31st of January, 2022, to serve as the team’s head coach. McDaniels led the Oakland Raiders to a 32-23 victory over the Denver Broncos, which was his previous team before joining the Raiders.
- McDaniels took a lot of heat throughout the 2022 season for his team’s failure to maintain leads and win games in the fourth and final quarter. McDaniels got criticism for Las Vegas’s defeat to an Indianapolis Colts squad headed by the debuting temporary head coach Jeff Saturday in Week 10.
- Saturday had been hired earlier that week to replace the recently fired Frank Reich despite having no previous experience coaching in the NFL leading into the game. McDaniels’s team had lost in Week 10 to an Indianapolis Colts team that was led by Saturday.
