- The City of No (1971), a New Zealand television film, was Neill’s first feature and was released in 1971. After that, he directed a short film titled “The Water Cycle” in 1972 and a television feature titled “Hunt’s Duffer” in 1973.
- Neill is credited with writing and directing the film Telephone Etiquette (1974), which was produced by the New Zealand National Film Unit. In addition, he was in the movie Landfall.
