Von Miller College Career

  • Miller was a member of the Texas A&M Aggies football team from 2007 until 2010. As a student at Texas A&M University, Miller participated in the sport.
  • During his first season as a defensive end in 2007, he recorded 22 tackles, including 10 solo stops, which earned him the title of Freshman All-Big 12 by The Sporting News. Two sacks, four tackles for loss, and a forced fumble were all recorded by him throughout the game. It was a 4-2-5 defense that he played in. During his first year of college, he weighed a total of 220 pounds.
  • The behaviors of Miller, which included missing class and failing to produce during practice, were discouraging to Mike Sherman, who had just been hired as the head coach in the spring of 2008. In the spring of that year, Sherman made the decision to suspend Miller.
  • In 2009, while Miller was a junior, he took on the job of the jack position, which is a mix of the defensive end and linebacker positions.
  • This gave him the opportunity to utilize his pass-rushing ability. His breakout season with the Aggies was marked by a number of accomplishments, including leading the nation in sacks with 17 and finishing fourth in the nation with 21 tackles for loss.
  • In 2010, when Miller was a senior, he made the transition to playing outside linebacker in the 3–4 formation under the defense of Tim DeRuyter. Miller was unable to participate in the first six games of the season because he had a high ankle sprain at the beginning of the season.

Professional Career

  • Had Miller chosen to forego his senior year of high school, it was anticipated that he would be selected in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2010. When he entered the 2011 NFL Draft, he was considered by NFL draft analysts and scouts to be among the finest three-four outside linebackers available, and he was anticipated to be selected in the top five round of the draft.
  • Miller won the Defensive Most Valuable Player award in the 2011 Senior Bowl. At the 2011 NFL Combine, Miller finished in second place in the 40-yard dash, third place in the vertical jump, first place in the broad jump, third place in the 20-yard shuttle, tied for first place in the three-cone drill, and first place in the 60-yard shuttle. All of these accomplishments were among linebackers.
  • Miller received the honor of being chosen to represent top-flight rookies in the negotiations with the NFL Labor Union in March of 2011.LaDainian Tomlinson, a former running back in the National Football League, was the one who convinced him to start the lawsuit.
  • The Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer compared him to Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter during the Texas A&M Pro Day. Another scout compared him to Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas. Both of these comparisons were made throughout the event.
  • Within the 2011 National Football League Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Miller with the second overall pick. Since the Washington Redskins selected LaVar Arrington with the second overall pick in the draft in the year 2000, he was the highest-drafted linebacker.
  • Additionally, he became the highest draft pick for the Aggies since Quentin Coryatt, who was taken second overall in 1992 before he was selected.
  • In his first play from scrimmage of his career, which took place on September 12, 2011, Miller was successful in forcing a fumble against the Oakland Raiders.
  • During the game between the Broncos and the Cincinnati Bengals on September 18, 2011, he recorded his first sack, which was placed on Andy Dalton.
  • By reaching 50 career sacks in 58 games, Miller became the third-fastest player in the history of the National Football League (NFL) on September 17, 2015. Reggie White (at forty games) and Derrick Thomas (at fifty-four) were the only players to arrive at the destination sooner than him.
  • The Broncos gave Miller the exclusive franchise tag on March 1, 2016, when they made the announcement. Miller inked a contract with the Broncos on July 15 that was worth $114.5 million over six years and guaranteed $70 million.
  • He achieved the highest guaranteed salary in the history of the National Football League, making him the highest-paid defensive player in the league’s history.
  • Miller had what was referred to as a “freak injury near the ankle” as he was participating in practice on September 8, 2020. It was feared that he would need surgery to end his season.
  • As a result of the findings of an MRI performed the following day, Miller was placed on injured reserve when it was determined that the injury was a dislocated peroneal tendon.
  • The Broncos decided to execute the 2021 year option that was included in Miller’s contract in March of 2021. It is guaranteed that he will receive $7 million of his base income of $17.5 million in 2021, as promised under his contract, which reached its final year.
  • On March 16, 2022, Miller signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills that was for $120 million over the course of six years.
  • During his first game with the franchise, he performed exceptionally well, with two sacks, two quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss. This was accomplished in the NFL Kickoff Game, which the Bills won 31–10 against his previous team, the Los Angeles Rams.
  • Miller will begin the 2023 season on the reserve/PUP list after being placed on the list. In the year 2023, on October 7th, he was activated. On November 30, 2023, he was accused of abusing his pregnant girlfriend.
  • The allegations took place. In the end, he handed himself in and was released on a $5,000 bond. Prior to that, there was a warrant out for his arrest.
